My name is Matthew Abraham Chef and Pit Master of Black Blues BBQ w/A Bakers Mission. It’s my true desire to serve my creator, impact my community, and create some of the best Southern Style BBQ and Bayou Bests. With my bride Kathy Abraham a Master Baker we aim to please. Cooking started for me at the age of 8 years old. Mom was a single parent who worked all day and had to come home and cook for my brother and I. I thought one day I would surprise her by making dinner. I created a gourmet blitz of grilled cheese and tomato soup she was ecstatic just to come home to a meal on the table. And so came my desire to cook and learn more. In my high school years I attended the culinary - vocational school that was part of the high school. Upon graduation I started working for metro Detroit Restaurants like Pointe BBQ, Terrace Gardens, Peter Monday’s Jazz Club and CJ Barrymores the day time night time good time place.
In my travels with Barrymores I opened new restaurant locations for them. But without a formal college degree it made it hard to excel. I gave up on the culinary industry and moved into the transportation industry while maintaining my skills at home and serving at church. Constantly I was asked when are you going to open your own place. Well folks here you go. BBQ was not my first thought but living in south I began to experiment. Roasting Ribs, pork butts and brisket. I will admit I destroy some serious meat getting to the task of Pit Master. BBQ is now a passion. Serving others and seeing the happy folks partaking in some Q. My greatest loves are my God, my bride, my kids and jazz and blues music. Nothing beats the smell of pork butts or brisket smoking on post oak and the sounds of Buddy Guy or BB king cranking in the background. Give us try you will be glad you did.
